You are on the Crews Open Promenade on the SS United States near the most forward point on the bow.
It is difficult to comprehend spatial relationships when looking at photos, so here is some detail. First, you're on the Promenade Deck level of the ship. That puts you 8 decks above keel, or 94 feet up to be more exact. Looking back, the forward funnel, behind the radar mast is about 325 feet away.
Moving closer, we see the radar mast rising from the top of the wheel house. The lookout is 125 feet above waterline giving both radar and human the best views possible.
The stairs in front of the three large windows leads from the Promenade deck up to the Sun deck. Those windows look into the Tourist Lounge. The single porthole is for Stateroom S-14.
The Navigating Bridge provides a commanding view. Width from port to starboard is 108 feet.
The Pilot House (or wheel house) is at the row of square windows. Adjacent to and behind the wheel house are the chart room, damage control center, radar room and log room. See Plans
Below the bridge on Sports Deck the three portholes at center line are to the Master's Reception Room. Adjoining this was the Master's personal quarters on the starboard side. The Executive's Officer's personal quarters and office are to the right of the center reception room. Welcome to the SS United States.
